The SPE: A-NZ Section is proud to announce that Dr Jaime Gomez, Global President, Society of Plastics Engineers will present at Friday morning (20th of November) session from 9.00 am to 9.30 am at the SPE A-NZ Annual Conference.
Presentation - Contributions of the SPE to the Plastics Industry
Dr Jaime Gómez is the current President of the Society of Plastics Engineers. He has 30-years of industry experience includes plastics, specialty chemicals, and materials handling—industries where he has conducted basic and applied research, evaluation and acquisitions of technologies and companies, international business development, and corporate strategic planning.
Dr Gómez is currently President & CEO of Equitech, a company that manufactures spectrophotometers for the in-line measurement of chemical concentration, color and film thickness for a myriad of industries. Before holding his current position, Dr Gómez worked at Holland Colours as President Americas and a number of other companies in the plastics and chemicals industry.
Dr Gómez joined SPE in 1987 while pursuing his PhD at the University of Connecticut where he served as SPE’s Student Chapter President for two terms. He also served as a member of SPE’s Extrusion Division Board of Directors for six years and helped establish the Next Generation Advisory Board (NGAB). Dr Gómez has been a member of SPE’s Board of Directors since 2013.
Dr Gómez received a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín, Colombia, a MSc in Org.Chem. from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, and a PhD in Polymer Science from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut. In addition to his technical training, Dr Gómez received an MBA from New York University (Stern School of Business).
